THE WOODWARDS interview

Image

The Woodwards are a two piece band composed by Peter Schuyff and Stevie Guy. She isn’t a guy, but a beautiful British woman. One who sings smooth smooth vocals which melt over Peter’s harsh rasp.

Peter Schuyff is of course the successful painter. A painter who took to writing songs in his forties. When I say songs, I could also say stories, as they are distinguishable by their narrative and spoken word rhythm. It’s almost like he’s Snoop (he likes Snoop) and Stevie is Ashanti, except it is folkie and its bluesy and there is absolutely no bootie shaking, lamborguinis or ridiculous chunky jewellery . You can expect to see cigarette consumption, and perhaps a Volvo…The beauty of it being it is understated.

Peter sings us his experiences, and claims that in your forties you ‘have a hell of a lot more to tell than when you’re younger.’ We cannot argue with that.

The Woodwards have now released the second full length album appropriately named ‘The Woodwards II’ produced by the famous Attie Bauw
